You may have seen recently that we, along with Huddersfield Giants women and Leeds Rhinos women, with the support of Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) dedicated the Giants v Rhinos womens super league game at Laund Hill to MNDA, in remembrance of the late Rob Burrow CBE who as we all know recently lost his battle with MND.
As part of this arrangement, the Giants women warmed up in dedicated MNDA t-shirts before the game, also, our volunteers and organisers, along with Giants mascot Big G also showed off the t-shirts, as did many people who attended the game and donated to the MNDA cause on the day.
On the day, the HGSA raised almost £400 for MNDA thanks to the generosity of fans of both Huddersfield and Leeds and also neutrals who attended the game.
On the field, the Giants women put up a valiant fight against their more illustrious opponents, losing the game by 4-42, but the winners on the day were MNDA, as well as t-shirts, we gave away wristbands, balloons, pin badges, car stickers, as well as raising funds from other donations and raffle tickets, the prizes which were a signed Giants womens shirt and a signed Leeds Rhinos shirt.
On Friday 21st June, prior to the Leeds Rhinos v Leigh Leopards super league clash which was Leeds’s chance to celebrate, pay tribute to and come together in Rob’s memory, our U18 academy lads also warmed up in their dedicated MNDA t-shirts on the Headingley pitch.
Here are some of the pictures of our teams and our volunteers sporting their MNDA colours.
