Following an urgent appeal from local children’s hospice Forget Me Not, to plug a £1 million pound funding gap and following the lead from the Huddersfield Giants who donated season card sales throughout December to the appeal, the HGSA did the same.
We announced in December that we would donate 50% of all our membership fees up until Christmas day to the hospice’s appeal, it might only be a small amount but we wanted to do our bit.
At the recent Giants v Hull FC game, Forget Me Not’s Gemma Redford was our guest in the Legends bar and she was presented with a cheque for £300 by our chairman Martin Eastwood.
Gemma spoke to our members about what it means to the hospice and how funds are used and explained what the hospice does, what the cost of things can be and how vital the funding is and encouraged everyone to donate to the appeal if they can.
The hospice is a vital service for children, but also, as Gemma told us, there are also young adults who have been in the hospice for a number of years who remain into adulthood to receive care and treatment and also support for families of children who need care and clinical needs.
We also encourage anyone who can to donate to their appeal, and you can find out more and how to donate RIGHT HERE
Thank you to everyone who bought a membership during this time and helped to donate to a vital and worthy cause.
