“What do the HGSA do and where does my £6 membership fee go to”?

Very important questions, so let us fill you in.

HGSA not only raise funds for the Huddersfield Giants but we support them in various roles too, all the Giants’ teams except the men’s first team play at Laund Hill, we have dedicated volunteer teams to run these games and work and liaise with the Giants staff and coaches, we promote the games, we operate the gates, we look after the scoreboard, we do the half time Golden Gamble raffle and we also support and cheer on the teams on the pitch.

But that’s not all, we also award a player of the match medal to the player our volunteers on the day think have excelled, we liaise with the coaching staff to share our thoughts on who and why, we then present the medal to the player after the game, it’s our way of giving the lads, and lasses, something back and supporting them.

Your £6 membership fee for 2025 has also been put to good use and much needed use, we recently bought sets of training bibs to be worn, at training, for warm ups and also for the sidelines during games and awe also provided some sparkling new  white “medic” bibs for the medical staff.

We then donated a set of each bibs for the Academy and Scholarships and a set for the Women’s teams, this donation enables the HGSA to cover the cost of such things meaning the funds aren’t coming directly from the Giants, we like to think we have helped the Giants out too, however small that may be.

We also donate a sum of money to the Huddersfield Giants at the end of the season, in 2024 we raised £25,000 for the club!

Next time you’re at a match at Laund Hill, keep and eye out for the donated and sponsored HGSA bibs, and know that your membership fee helped to pay for those, and please, do try and come and attend games at Laund Hill and support the teams who give their all in a relaxed atmosphere and environment where there is no pressure on them to win at all costs.
