It’s that time of year again when we ask you to vote for our annual ‘Wagstaff Trophy’ winner which will be announced and presented at the Giants presentation evening, the details of how to vote are at the bottom of the article.

But just what is the Wagstaff Trophy and what is it presented for?

Named after Huddersfield’s and possibly Rugby League’s greatest player and export, the indomitable, Harold Wagstaff  this is not just a ‘player of the year’ award, indeed it doesn’t even have to go to a player at all, the Wagstaff Trophy is an award decided by the HGSA members for the ‘Person you would least like to see leave the club’.

This could be absolutely anyone connected with the Huddersfield Giants club from the Club’s owner right down to the kitman/Tea lady etc, even HGSA committee members can be voted for if you think their contribution to the cause is worthy.

Previous recent winners include Danny Brough, Jermaine McGillvary, Chris McQueen and Will Pryce and last year’s winner, Oliver Russell.

On our voting form we have listed the players for convenience but there is also a section to vote for a non playing member by selecting option 2 and naming the person you wish to vote for, please keep it sensible as we have the right to discard or remove answers that do not comply with our rules.

The voting form will remain active until Tuesday 10th September and is open to ALL HGSA members.

We would then invite the winner to be our guest on the evening of our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 23rd October at Laund Hill.

Please ONLY use the OFFICIAL VOTING FORM , any comments etc on Social Media will not count.
